Review Links

When emailing, most review links are both ugly and long. If you are going to email someone a link for a review, you would rather have a link that looks like this:

Instead of this:

Rather than pasting your link directly in your email, link them to some text instead. In most email systems you can just highlight the text, right click it, select Link, and paste the link in. This is exactly how it works in Microsoft Outlook, allowing you to send a link that looks like this:

How to Get a Google Review Link

Google reviews are great since they help how your business ranks in search results, influence your appearance on Google Maps and also appear in Maps, and they have a huge amount of visibility to potential clients and referrals who search for you by business name. You'll need a Google Business Account (get started here) before you can start receiving reviews on Google.

To get a direct link so that clients can easily send reviews to your Google profile you will need to be signed-into your own Google account. Next, go to https://business.google.com to view your profile.

See the Get More Reviews panel shown in the example below to get a reviews link. Alternatively, click the Read Reviews button as seen below and then Get More Reviews button.

How to Get a Zillow Review Link

Zillow ranks well and has the advantage of being related to your real estate profession and being a place where people are spending time thinking about and looking at real estate. Your listings are probably appearing here. It makes sense to have reviews here too.

To get a direct link for requesting Zillow reviews, sign-into your professional Zillow profile and click your profile picture. Next click Account Settings and click Profile. The Request a Review button appears at top.

Select the option to Copy and paste direct link. The direct link for getting reviews appears in a box below for you to easily copy.

How to Get a Yelp Review Link

Links for Yelp reviews are easy to get. Simply visit your profile while not signed-into Yelp. Right click the Write a Review button and copy the link address. However, be aware that Yelp has an algorithm that filters out reviews that appear to be solicited or that are low quality and lack specific details. For this reason, you might direct your clients elsewhere.

How to Request LinkedIn Recommendations

If you already have a bunch of reviews on Google and Zillow, you might try getting some on LinkedIn. Profiles at LinkedIn show up well in search results, but LinkedIn doesn’t provide a way for you to just send a link. You either have to invite your client to review you or they have to do it themselves while viewing your profile. Either way, they will need to sign-in.

For LinkedIn, the client should visit your profile while signed-in at LinkedIn. Next, your client should click the More button that appears near the top of your profile and then select Recommend. Note that you can request recommendations from your own profile this way too. Alternatively, your client can scroll down to the Recommendations section of your profile and click the Recommend button. However, this second method only works if you already have at least one review.

How to give a review at LinkedIn

You can also invite a client to give you a review at LinkedIn. To request a recommendation through LinkedIn, you first sign-into your account, then click on your profile picture and select View Profile. Once there, scroll down to your Recommendations section and click the “+” symbol, then click Ask for a Recommendation.

How to Request a Review at Realtor.com

Like LinkedIn, Realtor.com is a great place to have a couple reviews if you already have a bunch on Google and Zillow. However, like LinkedIn, Realtor.com does not provide links you can send to clients. You either have to invite the client from your profile while signed-in or the client needs to visit your profile and sign-in to review you.

For Realtor.com the client should visit your profile, scroll down to Recommendations and click the Write a Recommendation button.

Make It Easy for Clients to Give You Reviews

Google, Zillow, Yelp, LinkedIn, and Realtor.com all require that your client have an account in order to leave a review. This can be a hassle and may discourage some clients.

If you are requesting reviews from a print-up that you include in your closing package, QR codes are a great way to make it easy to leave reviews. Any QR code generator will work, but our favorite is QR Code Monkey. If you are including links to LinkedIn or Realtor.com, you will definitely want to provide some basic instructions to help your clients review you.
