2024 has been quite a year for the housing industry. Interest rates kept us on our toes, the dust is still settling from the NAR settlement, agents are retooling their buyer and listing systems, we are digging an even greater hole in terms of our inventory, and now we even have insurance issues to bear. This year challenged both new and seasoned real estate professionals. Despite the challenges, there are big opportunities ahead for agents who know where to look.
Highly acclaimed by its thousands of attendees, State of the Market includes crucial information about important changes happening in our industry, historical and current market conditions, researched insight and predictions of where our market is going, and opportunities and talking-points for brokers to explore and capitalize upon.

Today we are going to interrupt your regularly-scheduled program for this very special interview with King County Assessor and King County Executive Candidate, John Wilson.
John has spent nearly 20 years advising elected officials and improving government operations. His experience includes serving as Chief of Staff to King County Executive Ron Sims, Chief Deputy Assessor and then as King County Assessor (he is currently serving his 3rd term).
During his tenure, John transformed the Department of Assessments into a high-performing, nationally recognized agency, focusing on modernizing operations to ensure accurate, fair property valuations and improve overall efficiency. Under his leadership, the department launched the state’s first Taxpayer Transparency Tool, enabling residents to see the real dollar impacts of ballot measures on their property taxes. Committed to equity,
John also implemented policies to help low-income and senior homeowners manage their tax burden. He’s successfully led the fight twice to index and raise the economic threshold for the Senior Property Tax Exemption from $40,000 to today’s $84,000 level, giving thousands of older homeowners a chance to save up to 80% on their property taxes.
As candidate for King County Executive, John is focused on three key issues: public safety, affordable housing, and tax relief. His vision is for a King County where everyone feels safe, has a place to call home, and can succeed in a growing, prosperous community.
