If your license is inactive, you are not required to submit continuing education at the time of renewal.

How old can my clock hours be before I can no longer use them for continuing education?

You cannot use any unused clock hours that are older than 36 months from your current renewal date. This basically covers the year previous to your last renewal. What is the difference between Core Curriculum versus Code of Ethics?

Core Curriculum
The core curriculum is a 3 clock hour course that you need to have once every two years in your renewal. It is included in the 30 clock hours you need to renew your license. That class is specifically titled Current Issues in WA Res. RE. You only need this course for your renewal.

Code of Ethics
The Code of Ethics is a 3 Hour course that is required to be taken only if you are a REALTOR® meaning that you belong to the National Association of REALTORS®. If you are not a member than you are not required to take this course. CODE OF ETHICS DOES NOT SATISFY THE CORE CURRICULUM.

How Often does a REALTOR® need the Code of Ethics course?

A REALTOR® needs this course once every four year period which is set by the National Association of REALTORS®. Every REALTOR® needs to complete this course by December 31, 2008. The quadrennial year goes from January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2008. If a REALTOR® does not complete this course by the end of the set quadrennial period, Your REALTOR® status will be terminated.
